New York State West Youth Soccer Association

About our Club

In the late 1960's the Brighton-Pittsford Soccer League was formed. One of the first leagues to be organized in the area, by 1975 it had expanded to approximately 1,500 players. Shortly thereafter it was decided that each town should create a separate league. Consequently, the Pittsford Soccer League and the Brighton Soccer League were formed . . . each having approximately 1,000 boys and girls participating.

In August 1976, a group of sixteen boys were invited to tour England. The trip was completed in March of 1977, and the core of this team became the first Pittsford Mustangs team to be entered into the Rochester Area Youth Soccer League. A second team, The Pittsford Panthers, was formed in the fall of 1977. It shortly became apparent that it was necessary to compliment the strong "house" league with a well-organized "travel" program in order to offer a full soccer program to the Town of Pittsford. To achieve this, the Pittsford Mustangs Soccer Club was formed in January 1978.

Since that time the Club has consistently grown in size and stature. Mustangs travel teams are recognized across New York State and throughout the Northeast. Many teams, both boys' and girls', have represented Western New York in the Northeast Regional Championships and are perennial winners of the Rochester District Youth Soccer League. In 2002, we fielded 26 travel teams for boys and girls between 9 and 19 years of age.

The Pittsford Mustangs Soccer Club developmental program (the "Ultimate" program for boys and girls) offers a noncompetitive, Skill and self-esteem building for over 550 children from 5 to 10 years of age. Over all, more than 600 participants wear the Pittsford Mustangs Logo on the soccer fields of Western New York.
